Explosions reported in Iran Bandar Abbas and nearby Persian Gulf areas; air defenses activated.

Three explosions were heard in the port city of Bandar Abbas, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a short statement early Tuesday local time citing “sources,” but there was no immediate official confirmation of the cause of the blasts.

 Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, the newly appointed leader of the country’s Supreme National Security Council, displayed his hard-line stance in his first message to the Iranian people, vowing that “there will be no retreat” in Iran’s fight against the United States and Israel.



Ett mycket stort högtryck, eller så kallad anticyklon, har sedan en tid parkerat över den europeiska kontinenten och medgett för varm luft att sprida sig från de sydvästra delarna till de centrala. I skrivande stund har en lång rad platser i väst kring 30 grader.

I värmeböljans franska mitt har man på kort tid gått från närmast höstlika förhållanden till högsommar med god marginal och på annandag pingst kommer ännu fler platser få minst 35 grader. 

Det rör sig om temperaturer uppemot 12 grader mer än det normala för året i hela landet.

Temperatures are 10 to 15°C above seasonal norms and have broken previous records by 2 or 3°C.

"This heat would be exceptional in the UK even in mid-summer, let alone in May", the Met Office said.
The mercury is expected to rise further on Tuesday, with forecasters warning of possible 35C heat in parts of England.

Cognitive blind spots are undermining our ability to see the world as it is, rather than as we would like it to be. At the start of the 21st century, western elites generally assumed that globalisation, democracy and the free market were self-evidently good, and would keep spreading, creating peace. N o longer.  FIS, Swiss Federal Intelligence Service, has published a manual about cognitive blind spots. 18 different cognitive biases that hamper our thinking, such as “group think” (adhering to the cosy assumptions of our tribe), “anchoring” (relying exclusively on whatever information we see first, say on social media),  “confirmation bias” (only seeing data that reinforces pre-existing views),  “mirror imaging” (assuming others think like us),  “absence of evidence” bias (failing to think about the data we lack)  and “survivorship bias” (judging data only with success stories, not failures).
