The Italian Grand Prix takes place this weekend at Monza, arguably the most historic venue on the calendar. Monza has hosted Formula 1 races more times than any other circuit, staging grands prix in all but one year since the inaugural season in 1950. Ferrari's Giuseppe Farina (nearest the camera), Maserati's Juan Manuel Fangio and Ferrari's Alberto Ascari, on the far side, line up before the start of the 1953 race. These three men shared the first eight Formula 1 world championships.   https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/ckg8w8qj5z9o Valets viktigaste fråga präglas av felaktig information I en medievärld där vetenskap reduceras till åsikter och konkurrerar med sociala mediers ekokammare behöver Sverige ett nationellt informationsunderlag om klimatkrisen, skriver Johan Rockström, chef för Potsdaminstitutet för klimatforskning (PIK).   The southern US faces temperatures as high as 46C this week as forecasters warn of “dangerous record-breaking” heat for tens of millions of people. A high-pressure system known as a heat dome is sitting over the Southwest and south-central parts of the country, acting like a lid that prevents heat from escaping into the atmosphere. https://www.ft.com/content/ab090526-171c-4e85-b70b-65999fdc5c43?syn-25a6b1a6=1 Det som sker nu är inte normalt.

Tankarna for i huvudet.

Heatwaves expose the great human gift for ignoring catastrophe. Super El Niño Is Turbocharging Weather Disasters.

Even now, when weather records are being broken, when climate change is demonstrably here, not in the future, we seem frozen.  We still go about our carbon-greedy lives: snapping up the last air-conditioning unit, booking another flight, seeking solace in the pathetic fallacy of recycling things we maybe didn’t need at all. It’s not that we don’t care. Multiple studies across the world find the majority of people now take climate change very seriously. But the scale of the thing can mire us in apathy. Shouting “fire” doesn’t work. I’ve learnt from experience that doom-mongering leads people either to turn away or become overwhelmed by the scale of the problem.   Tehran’s demands for a full reopening of Hormuz include the US lifting its naval blockade on Iranian ports, the release of frozen assets and compensation for war damages. It has also called for a permanent end to attacks on groups it backs in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and Gaza. “I am likewise demanding compensation from Iran, for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts,” Trump wrote on social media.  “Additionally, compensation should be paid to the families of the hundreds of thousands of innocent protestors that Iran has killed over the last 50 years.” Shortly after his post, Trump added that Iran should also be held responsible for deaths and damage from conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Gaza, where Tehran-backed militant groups operate.
