S&P 500 stängde på minus 0,4 procent och noterade därmed den tredje dagen i följd på minus. 

Dagens i särklass mest dramatiska rörelse stod guld- och silverpriset för och gruvjättar drogs med ned i raset.

The selloff accelerated after President Donald Trump nominated Kevin Warsh as the next chair of the Federal Reserve, reintroducing uncertainty around the Fed's path and unsettling markets that had been trading a clearly dovish outcome.

Warsh will need to convince fellow policymakers and investors that his plan to cut rates, driven by a predicted productivity boom from artificial intelligence, will keep inflation low.

Warsh, who served as a Fed governor during the 2008 financial crisis, has echoed Treasury secretary Scott Bessent’s calls for an overhaul of the Fed’s governance, calling for “regime change” at the central bank.

In particular, Warsh has said that he regrets the Fed’s move to massively expand its balance sheet during his time as a governor

Cognitive blind spots are undermining our ability to see the world as it is, rather than as we would like it to be. At the start of the 21st century, western elites generally assumed that globalisation, democracy and the free market were self-evidently good, and would keep spreading, creating peace. N o longer.  FIS, Swiss Federal Intelligence Service, has published a manual about cognitive blind spots. 18 different cognitive biases that hamper our thinking, such as “group think” (adhering to the cosy assumptions of our tribe), “anchoring” (relying exclusively on whatever information we see first, say on social media),  “confirmation bias” (only seeing data that reinforces pre-existing views),  “mirror imaging” (assuming others think like us),  “absence of evidence” bias (failing to think about the data we lack)  and “survivorship bias” (judging data only with success stories, not failures).
