France, with Germany, is the cornerstone and motor of the European Union.

 


It is not Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s anti-immigrant Hungary, an irritant to the European project, but in the end a marginal one. If France turns against a united Europe, the possibility of a broader unraveling of the 27-nation union grows because its core begins to dissolve.

“We must be lucid about the fact that our Europe is mortal,” Mr. Macron declared in April before an audience of government ministers, European ambassadors and other dignitaries at the Sorbonne 

He spoke for almost two hours but political energy had already passed to a different vision — of the nation resurgent — and Mr. Macron was not ready to see that.

About me Why am I writing this? Niklas Ekdal, bunkergängets apologet

"Apologetik är försvar och rättfärdigande av den kristna tron gentemot ifrågasättande i de egna leden eller från motståndare." - "En apologet är en person som ägnar sig åt apologetik." Wikipedia - Krisen 1992 grundlades under 1970-talet, då socialdemokraterna och de borgerliga regerade halva tiden var, skrev Niklas Ekdal i en signerad artikel i DN 23/9 2007. Det är ju snart 15 år sedan kronkursförsvaret, av apologeterna felaktigt benämnt kronförsvaret, ägde rum. Syftet bakom Bildt-regeringens försvar av växelkursen var ju att bereda vägen för EMU och ett avskaffande av kronan. . Ekdal berömmer Ingvar Carlsson, som "ledde den budgetsanering som Göran Persson fått äran för" och "återupprättade förtroendet för svensk ekonomi genom impopulära besparingar och samarbete över blockgränsen."
