A formidable American military force has been gathering in the Caribbean. The flotilla, including warships and F-35s, is purportedly to combat drug-trafficking. 
It has attacked and sunk at least five boats which were allegedly running drugs, killing 27 people. 

But many believe that Mr Maduro is the ultimate target. On October 15th, three American B52 bombers circled within 150 miles of the capital, Caracas.
