Franco-German defense projects like the Future Combat Air System plane

have been hit with infighting and delays due to corporate rivals having to become partners.

In the eight years since Macron announced a flurry of defense projects with Merz’s predecessor, Angela Merkel, two have been scrapped, one shelved indefinitely and two (including the aforementioned fighter plane) hit with infighting and delays.
