9 juli. Ai water. Trump’s memorandum of understanding with Iran, Paragraph 5. US, Iran Trade Airstrikes as Fears Grow of a Return to War.

US, Iran Trade Airstrikes as Fears Grow of a Return to War

The US military attacked Iran for a second day, hitting about 90 targets overnight, and Tehran retaliated against American allies in the Persian Gulf.
Iran reported strikes on the perimeter of a nuclear power plant and two railway bridges, and targeted US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar in response to the US attacks.

The latest attacks have raised fears of a return to war after little progress in efforts to secure a diplomatic outcome, with talks between the US and Iran on hold while Iran conducts a week-long mass funeral for former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

President Trump’s memorandum of understanding with Iran
The root of the dispute is Paragraph 5, which says Iran will make arrangements to restore shipping through the strategic waterway and then work with Oman to determine how to administer it in the future. But it also includes an Iranian pledge to ensure safe passage and remove military obstacles such as mines.
Trump administration officials saw that clause as unlocking the strait, the main accomplishment of the president’s deal. Iranian hard-liners, however, have used it to push a maximalist interpretation that gives the Islamic Republic exclusive control over the waterway
Wall Street Journal 9 July 2026

Iran responded to 80 American strikes with what it claimed were 85 attacks on military positions in Bahrain and Kuwait. Mr Trump threatened more attacks on water installations. The oil price jumped a bit, to $78 a barrel.

Observers again predicted Iran could stomach more economic pain than the global economy.

Transformatorn i Ai-åldern

Surging data-centre power demands are intensifying pressure on transformer supply chains

Data hubs already devour more electricity globally than all but 10 countries.

About 448 terawatt hours last year if you’re interested. The AI boom means that amount is on track to roughly double within four years.

This would be less of a problem if all the new electricity were green.

They also swallow up land and water. By 2030, they could be using enough water to meet the basic needs of all 1.3bn sub-Saharan Africans for a year, UN researchers estimate.
