US Strikes Iran in Escalating Campaign

The US conducted a wave of strikes on Iranian command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks to "further diminish" Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners.

The conflict has led to a rise in oil prices, with Brent crude rising almost 4% to trade above $90 a barrel, and has resulted in significant material losses and injuries in Kuwait, as well as damage to vital institutions.

Enligt Irans president Masoud Pezeshkian är Iran nu involverat i ett ”fullskaligt krig” mot USA, skriver AFP. Uttalandet från presidenten kommer efter rapporter om nya amerikanska attacker under måndagen.

Stockholmsbörsen går mot en öppning i sidled, trots att oljepriset stiger skarpt efter upptrappning i Iran.

Stockholmsbörsens fick plötsligt fart uppåt efter att Reuters publicerat uppgifter om att medlare föreslagit en tio dagar lång vapenvila mellan USA och Iran. Glädjen höll i sig i 20 minuter innan börsen föll tillbaka.

Cognitive blind spots are undermining our ability to see the world as it is, rather than as we would like it to be. At the start of the 21st century, western elites generally assumed that globalisation, democracy and the free market were self-evidently good, and would keep spreading, creating peace. N o longer.  FIS, Swiss Federal Intelligence Service, has published a manual about cognitive blind spots. 18 different cognitive biases that hamper our thinking, such as “group think” (adhering to the cosy assumptions of our tribe), “anchoring” (relying exclusively on whatever information we see first, say on social media),  “confirmation bias” (only seeing data that reinforces pre-existing views),  “mirror imaging” (assuming others think like us),  “absence of evidence” bias (failing to think about the data we lack)  and “survivorship bias” (judging data only with success stories, not failures).
