Record-breaking heat is gripping the typically temperate U.S. Pacific Northwest,

 reviving fears of more wildfires and concerns for the health of vulnerable citizens not likely to have air conditioning.

Predicted to be “historic, dangerous, prolonged and unprecedented,” according to the National Weather Service, the region’s temps are rewriting the record books.
