First Citizens BancShares och den svenska skuldsättningen


About 15 years ago, a financial crisis that had its roots in the overselling of mortgages in the US went global. No need to re-tell that story now; this is just to mention that the banks and economies that sustained the longest lingering damage were in Europe, not the US. 

This means that trouble for banks in the the eurozone — whose rickety structure makes any crisis harder to quell — and especially in China could create far greater economic damage.

First Citizens BancShares Inc. of Raleigh, North Carolina, bought up much of the assets of the failed Silicon Valley Bank. Judging by what happened to First Citizens’ share price, this shouldn’t be regarded as an act of charity:
