Unforgettable Denial of Reality

The intensity of the denials by the White House and its allies of last week’s devastatingly succinct description of the president as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory “ by special counsel Robert Hur is proof that they know it’s true.

The leader of the free world is a fragile ornament, wrapped in cotton wool, protected by aides from falls and gaffes, sheltered by staff (and in Mr. Biden’s case by much of the media) from accountability, gently cocooned from the risk of doing or saying anything he can’t control.

And who could be the Democrats’ savior? If Kamala Harris is unfit, who is fit?

No, the reality denial will have to continue for another nine months. And then, four more years.

Putin says he prefers Joe Biden

The Russian president also remarked on his recent interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson, saying he had found it disappointing because the questions had not been sharp enough.

Mr Putin clarified that Russia would work with anyone who "gains the trust of the American public" and wins the presidency.

It wasn't all glowing feedback for Mr Biden, however: Mr Putin described the US president's condemnation of the war in Ukraine as "extremely harmful and erroneous".

Putin Says Biden Better for Russia Than Trump

Putin dismissed a question about the 81-year-old US president’s mental acuity. Putin, 71, praised Biden’s sharpness at their last encounter, in Geneva three years ago.

“Even then, there was talk he wasn’t competent but I didn’t see anything like that. Yes, he looked at his notes but I also looked at mine. It was nothing.”
