Banks and private credit

To reassert their edge over private credit, banks have gone to extraordinary lengths in recent years — from doing deals for free to one offer to stump up $10 billion of cash upfront for a buyout. 

On the latest deals, they’re driving borrowing costs to the lowest in years, thanks to the creation of what Rudnicki Schlumberger reckons is about 160 new collateralized loan obligation funds.
