The sad Hunter Biden saga took another step toward resolution on Thursday, as the President’s son agreed to plead guilty to charges that he failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes, including on foreign income.
This will avoid the highly embarrassing criminal trial that was about to start, though it’s notable that even on Thursday the first son sought to avoid real accountability.
The election relevance of Hunter’s case has faded with President Biden’s departure from the campaign.
But it’s worth recalling that Hunter and the President denied wrongdoing at every stage of this investigation and prosecution.
Joe Biden told the country in 2020 that Hunter’s laptop, which disclosed much of his unseemly behavior, was Russian disinformation.
