NYT Room for debate: Is this the end of austerity?

On Sunday, the French witnessed a narrow victory by the Socialist candidate, François Hollande, over the incumbent, Nicolas Sarkozy, in the first round of presidential elections.

The next day, the Dutch prime minister resigned and new data revealed that Spain is officially in a recession.
