Neoliberalism Looks Pretty Good Right Now, Doesn’t It?
After US tariffs destroy what is left of the world economic order, policy that values free markets and free trade will be due for a comeback.
I am a proud neoliberal, and after President Donald Trump’s tariffs destroy what is left of the post-neoliberal world order, neoliberalism itself will be due for a comeback.
There is no perfect policy. Everything has trade-offs and creates winners and losers. But free trade and markets tend to make societies richer, more productive and more innovative.

Of all the hallowed American institutions that have experienced a loss in public esteem over the last few years, perhaps none has suffered a bigger drop than higher education.
Whether the explanation is sky-high tuition, grade inflation, moral confusion or, lately, the milk and cookies for students anxious about the election, the most egregious examples always seem to be from the most elite institutions.
There is a way to restore trust, one of the most valuable courses of study is a curriculum developed a century ago, commonly known as Philosophy, Politics and Economics, or PPE.
The PPE program is a course of study that has been offered at Oxford since the 1920s.
