Formula One cars, IndyCars, and many Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Porsches today have the engine behind the driver for performance reasons. But for seven generations, starting in 1953 when it was first launched, the Corvette remained a front-engine car.
All that changed when General Motors put out the eighth generation Corvette in model year 2020 as a mid-engine car for the first time.
